My Review: I'd like to thank Innovative Online Book Tours and the author for providing me a copy of this book to review for the tour.
I loved reading the first book of this trilogy, and the Shakespearean quotes at the beginning of each chapter really set the tone. During the first book, they were all quotes from Romeo and Juliet, now they are all from A Midsummer Night's Dream. In the first book, we got a glimpse of how evil Rose's mother truly is, now we get a further glimpse of how much love can destroy a person. Truly gives more meaning to the William Congreve quote, "Heav'n has no rage like love to hatred turn'd/ nor hell a fury, like a woman scorned."
As Rose and Derek's love and relationship progresses all the usual ways, including the miscommunication, there are slightly more wicked twists to the plot.
I can't wait to see how it all pans out in the end. Will Rose get to meet her father?

This was such a good book I read it in a single day. This wasn't your normal vampire book where the heroine is begging the hero vamp to change her. Jess was thrown into this world and struggles against it while trying to retain her humanity. It was refreshing to see this point of view as Jess grieves the loss of her own life as she knew it, and tries to handle the changes to her own self. The balance that Jess tries to keep is at times emotional and heart-rending. I can't wait to see how the story progresses.

My Review: I'd like to thank Promotional Book Tours and the author for allowing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a very well-written and detailed fantasy book. I found some of the details of the world were explained a little too late in the book for my liking. Some of the creatures you only got a description of later in the book, so for some times you're reading terms and names of creatures that you don't understand or can't visualize.
When I started reading this book, it gave me the feeling that this would be a great fantasy book for middle graders, 4th grade onward  But as I continued reading, there are some scenes that are a little too intense for the younger readers. So when the synopsis says "parental guidance", please take it seriously. I wouldn't give it to any child under 12 to read.
Overall though, its a good read. I like Sophina, she's a strong girl who is determined to find her brother no matter what she faces.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading?


Where did another week go? I keep saying that, but then I look out my window and can admit, spring is finally here.....despite the foot of snow we received over the weekend. I am beyond thrilled!



So this week I continue to chip away at the pile of books I set ahead of myself last week and a add a few more:

Crimson Flames Excerpt


Trace took advantage of the fact we were alone by scooping me up in his arms—one arm under my knees and one across the middle of my back—and lifting me off the ground. I shrieked and rocked my feet as he turned us in a full circle. “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Tristan’s life than to know you’re going to fill in for him. Oh B.A.”—the new nickname he had for me, which was short for “beautiful Abby”—“you’ve made me a very happy man.”
“We still have to take this slow,” I reminded him, feeling my own wave of caution move inside me. “Committing to another relationship so soon after—”
“Shh,” he whispered as he set me back down, then tilted my chin to look at him when my racing nerves locked my gaze on the floor. “We don’t have to be anything. I’m not asking that from you. Nor will I tell you things you’re not ready to hear. But because I do care, I simply want to be here for you. And of course, celebrate your decision to join us.” His lips pulled into a beautiful smile, not a hint of his fangs as his fingers pressed a little harder against my skin. A sliver of heat sparked in my lower belly and I swallowed hard. “Shall we get back to the party?” he asked in a low voice.
I nodded, the awakened attraction still making it difficult to speak. When he lowered his hand, I sighed with relief and turned to leave the room. Trace moved beside me and just before we reached the door, there was a blur of motion and my back was pressed against the wall and his mouth covered mine, releasing my hold on the burning desire for him so it washed over me in tingling waves as our kisses became more urgent, his teeth roughly nibbling on my bottom lip. “There’s no rule that I can’t do this?” His question a growl inside my mouth.
Was there? It was hard to think with his tongue pushing its way in. My lips parted and he moved inside, his tongue probing and lapping. Repeating his motion, I did some exploring of my own, my head a whirlwind of mind-numbing pleasure, his question lost somewhere in the depths of my thoughts. His hands gripped my hips and pulled me to grind against him, my heat pulsing from my core and flowing through my veins. His mouth moved in a slow line over my chin and down to that oh-so-sensitive spot between my shoulder and neck, then he clamped down there and an unrecognizable moan rumbled out of my throat. He answered me with a gurgled growl and let go of my hips. Gripping my wrists tightly, he pulled my hands above my head and held them firmly against the wall, then stopped kissing me and raised his head, staring at me with a feral gaze now tinged with crimson. “Am I crossing your boundary?” His voice low and throaty and definitely meant to tease me.
He pressed into me, smashing my back against the wall and letting me know just how badly he wanted me from the feel of him against my lower belly. “I don’t know, I can’t think…”
Crushing my mouth with his lips, he rocked his body closer, harder, and for whatever reason, that’s when I remembered we were in a room with see-through glass doors. Pushing him back, I said, “No,” my voice more firm than I felt. “We can’t…not in here.”
