Best Served Cold - Tawdra KandleSometimes, revenge is your only choice. . .

Julia worked for weeks planning the perfect surprise birthday party for her boyfriend, Liam, but that night, she was the one who got the biggest shock. He broke up with her in front of all their friends, humiliating her in the process. Clearly revenge was in order. The plan is simple. Make him jealous, win him back, and then crush his heart. Fair is fair. However, there is one little hiccup and he has curly brown hair and dimples. Jesse is everything she wants. With him, she could almost forget her bruised heart. Almost. Julia has one choice: let Liam walk away after everything he did, or lose a chance at love in pursuit of payback.

#NaBloPoMo Day #4: Changing yourself

NaBloPoMo November 2013

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I would  change my level of patience. I really need more. I tend to fly off the handle way too much. My emotional side kicks in when my calm, cool logical side should prevail. I've tried to count to 10, but the counting doesn't even register to be done before I'm off the handle. I'm sure if I stopped being quite so emotional, and worrying about everything, my stress levels would plummet. Overall, it would be a good thing. So far though, no matter what tactics I've used to employ, it hasn't helped much.

NaBlogPoMo Day # 3: Writing Spaces

NaBloPoMo November 2013

Tell us about your writing space. Where do you write your

 blog posts?

My writing space is a wood and metal corner computer desk. It is filled to the brim with stuff, stuff and more stuff. From a skein of multi-colored yarn that I'm planning on using in a craft fair, to an unusable printer, to plenty of paper, pens, and books.
Nothing too interesting about it, except it is flush up against the TV next to it, which can make it very easy to be on Facebook and watch TV all at the same time....

#NaBloPoMo: Post 1: A Day Behind

NaBloPoMo November 2013

Who is your favourite character of all time?

What? You mean I have to pick? Honestly? But they all have their special quirks that make them so special! Alright, let me try...

Image from the author's blog
Grimalkin: Grim comes from the Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa. He is the most awesomely characterized cat I've ever seen because he's so realistically written! I've got five cats myself and I can totally envision one of them acting and saying those very lines.

Grimalkin was waiting for us atop a broken limb at the edge of the tree line, washing his paw with exaggerated nonchalance. “That took longer than I expected.” He yawned as we came up. “I was wondering if I should take a nap, waiting for you.” Giving his paw a final lick, he looked down at us, narrowing his golden eyes. “Anyway, if you two are quite finished, we can move on.”
“Did you know about the Thornguards?” I asked. “And their attack on the Iron Kingdom?”
Grimalkin snorted. Flicking his tail, the cat rose and sauntered along the splintered branch with no explanation. Hopping lightly to an overhead limb, he vanished into the leaves without looking back, leaving Puck and me hurrying to catch up.
And from a non-book media, television, I'm definitely going to pick The Doctor. Yes...THE Doctor....
Doctor Who, which is celebrating its 50 year anniversary on November 23rd, 2013. He is completely my favorite character that is not in a book. Some of the quotes that make him just so spectacular...

“The Doctor: This is bad, I don't like this. [kicks console and yells in pain] Never use force, you just embarrass yourself. Unless you're cross, in which case... always use force!
Amy: Shall I run and get the manual?
The Doctor: I threw it in a supernova.
Amy: You threw the manual in a supernova? Why?
The Doctor: Because I disagreed with it! Now stop talking to me when I'm cross!”

And then there's this one:

“The Doctor: Oh, now what's this, then? I love this. A big, flashy-lighty thing. That's what brought me here. Big, flashy-lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually, but give me time... and a crayon.”

It's Monday, What are you Reading?

I have been so lax about posting things other than the reviews and tours, it almost seems as if this blog has lost all its soul. So, starting now, since it is almost my 1 year blogiversary, I'm going to start posting an extra something like this once a week. Let's see how that goes, then we'll move onto more, right?

So, without further ado, here are the books that are on my to-read shelf for this week:

  1. The Grinding by Matt Dinniman
  2. Knight of Wands by S.M. Blooding
  3. Ethereal Influence by Lana Bradstream
  4. Fighting to Forgive by J.B.Salsbury
There's more, but let's see if we can get through those first, right?
