A Magical Universe… Hidden throughout the worlds are magical portals leading to the secret dimension where Mystic’s Carnival is nestled. A self-aware fair that is both carnival and circus combined, and filled with a plethora of supernatural and paranormal beings. Performers and runaways, Kyra and Sebastian, are away visiting the human realm when they find themselves at odds. Stay hidden, or interfere with a human’s destiny? Saving a life doesn’t go unpunished. Kyra thinks saving Marcus’s life is easy – slick as dragon snot – and a one-time deal. The resulting bond tying her to him and enslaving her as protector is unexpected. She didn’t expect one good deed to turn into an endless chain of good deeds. Or to complicate the relationship with her best friend, Sebastian. And she especially didn’t expect it to place her life on the line. Kyra’s dragon must keep Marcus alive and salvage her relationship with Sebastian without losing herself or dying.

My Review: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book was so utterly confusing. It drops you in the middle of a magical carnival that seems to be on another plane of existence, but intersects ours at strange times, like when a terminally ill girl is in a medically induced coma. The two main characters are very confusing. There's Kyra who is half fire dragon, half water dragon, with a preferred human looking state of being. This makes her into something not quite fire dragon, not quite water dragon, instead into an anomaly called a Moorigad dragon. Then there's Sebastian, who we don't learn a lot about, but if you read the next book in the series, it explains the Death card that he seems to favor. He's Kyra's childhood flame, and a Tarot card reader. And finally there's the man Kyra saves, Marcus, whom she is insanely attracted to.
While this book confused me more than anything, it does a good job of setting up the next book, which is where the action really happens. You need to read this one, to understand the next one. I think I would prefer the two books combined, with the first book being a prologue of sorts, or a part 1, and the second book being a part 2.

Rating: 4 starsMy Review: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is pretty much from Sebastian's point of view. You know, the mysterious Tarot card reading secret flame of Kyra's? Well, now she's disappeared and when he finds her, she has no memory. Instead, she seems to have lost her dragon part of her soul, and shacked up with Marcus, the man she saved.
This book is so much better than the previous one, since the previous book really set the stage and helped explain the world the book is in.
The carnival is not quite so prominent in this book, and open-ended storylines in the last book have been explained. Marcus and Sebastian's characters are much more in-depth now, and we can truly understand the characters and their drives.
This book is so much better written than the previous, and was much more enjoyable to read.
